Compare cheap 7 Seater car hire in one search. Enter your airport and dates above to see cars with seven seats from several hire firms, with the total price for each in GBP.
Booking for seven? “Or similar” can leave you with five proper seats and two small ones. The seat codes section below shows how to avoid that.
UK residents made 94.6 million visits abroad in 2024, and Spain alone took 18.2 million of them (ONS). Many of those trips are family holidays, where one big car beats two small ones.
This site is built for that booking. Every result has seven seats, and every airport guide is written for UK drivers.
How our 7 Seater search works
A general car hire search shows every size of car, so the 7 seaters get lost among estates and five-seat SUVs. Ours filters the list so only cars with seven or more seats appear.
You see each car with its hire firm and the total price for your dates. When you pick one, you book and pay on our booking partner’s site, where you choose your cover and read the full terms.
Seven seats, or five plus two?
Every hire car carries a four-letter ACRISS code. The first two letters give its size and type, and seven seats sit in the passenger van codes.
| Code starts | Category | What you get |
|---|---|---|
IV | Intermediate passenger van | 6 or more seats |
JV | Intermediate elite passenger van | 6 or more seats, sometimes a 5+2 layout |
SV | Standard passenger van | 7 or more seats. Look for this. |
FV | Fullsize passenger van | 7 or more seats with more room. Look for this. |
“Or similar” guarantees the class, not the model. Booking an SV or FV code is the best way to make sure all seven seats are usable.
A JV car may have a third row that only suits small children. Check the seat layout on the booking page before you pay.
Seven people. Where do the cases go?
A large suitcase holds 80 to 110 litres, so seven of them need 560 to 770 litres. With all seven seats up, the roomiest common 7 seaters have about 340 to 350 litres of boot.

“Or similar” matters here too. The current Peugeot 5008 has 348 litres with every seat in use, but the previous model has 167 (Auto Express, Carbuyer).
For a full family with a big case each, look for the ACRISS FV class, or book an 8 or 9 seater. Soft bags squeeze into gaps that hard cases cannot.
Which 7 Seater suits your trip?
Large SUVs
Cars such as the Peugeot 5008 and Skoda Kodiaq drive like a normal family car. The third row usually suits children better than adults on a long drive.
MPVs
Taller bodies give more headroom in the back rows. Compact MPVs such as the Volkswagen Touran have very little boot with all seven seats up.
US minivans
The Toyota Sienna has about 949 litres behind the third row (CarGurus). For Florida or a national parks road trip, a minivan carries far more than a European 7 seater.
8 and 9 seaters
When seven people and seven cases will not fit, a 9 seater can work out cheaper than two cars. It also needs only one driver.

The things that catch families out
Child seats abroad
UK rules need a child seat until 12 years or 135 cm (GOV.UK). Spain requires a seat for children of 135 cm or under, normally in the back, and the fine is about £171 (€200) plus 4 points (RACE).
France requires a seat for every child under 10 (Sécurité routière), and Italy for any child under 1.50 m (Codice della Strada). Some 7 seaters only have ISOFIX points in the middle row, so plan who sits where.
EES border checks
The EU Entry/Exit System started on 12 October 2025. On your first visit to the Schengen area, you may be asked for fingerprints and a photo, and the record then lasts three years (GOV.UK).
A family of seven takes longer to clear. Add your flight number to the booking, so the hire desk knows when you have landed.
Your licence check code
Hire firms may ask to see your driving licence record. You can get a check code up to 21 days before you pick up the car (GOV.UK).
Some countries also need an International Driving Permit, which costs £5.50 from PayPoint shops (GOV.UK).
Left or right?
Australia and South Africa drive on the left, like the UK. The US and the UAE drive on the right.
A big car on unfamiliar roads deserves a calm first hour. Plan an easy first drive from the airport.

How to keep a cheap 7 Seater cheap
- Compare the total, not the daily rate. Fuel policy, deposit, insurance excess and extra driver charges all sit outside the headline price.
- Book the right class first time. An SV or FV code avoids a costly upgrade at the desk when the car turns out too small.
- Price child seats per day. Hire firms usually charge per seat, and long trips add up. Bringing your own can be cheaper.
- Book early with free cancellation. School holidays bring the highest demand for 7 seaters. Lock in a cancellable rate, then search again nearer the date and rebook if prices fall.
