7 Seater Car Hire Toulouse Airport

Compare cheap 7 seater car hire at Toulouse Airport. The city’s low emission zone, Crit’Air stickers, family days out at Cité de l’espace and the drive to Carcassonne.

Most of central Toulouse is a low emission zone, and every car driving or parking inside it must show a Crit’Air sticker. Check one is on the windscreen before you leave the car park.

Toulouse-Blagnac handled 7,621,409 passengers in 2025, and about 60% of its traffic is international (Air Journal). For 2026 it lists 81 destinations, with easyJet back on the London Gatwick route.

Traffic dipped in 2025 after easyJet closed its Toulouse base in April (Toulouse-Blagnac Airport). For families heading to the Pyrenees or a gîte in the south west, a 7 seater from the airport is still the simplest way in.

Toulouse’s low emission zone

Toulouse bans cars rated Crit’Air 4 or worse from its low emission zone. The planned ban on Crit’Air 3 cars was suspended. The rules apply to every vehicle in the zone, wherever it is registered (Toulouse Métropole).

Allowed cars must display a Crit’Air sticker to drive or park inside the zone, and the fine for a car is about £58 (€68). The zone covers most of the city, bounded by the périphérique and the western rocade (Toulouse Métropole).

A recent French hire car should qualify easily, but check the sticker at pickup. If it is missing, ask for another car.

Days out for the whole family

Cité de l’espace is Europe’s biggest space theme park, set over four hectares indoors and out, and the regional tourist board suggests allowing a full day (Tourisme Occitanie). It has a Mir space station replica and a planetarium (Toulouse Tourisme).

Close to the airport, Aéroscopia displays Concorde and the Super Guppy, and visitors can board some aircraft. Airbus factory tours include the A380 assembly hall, with a combined ticket for both (Tourisme Occitanie). The city’s tourist office lists both as rainy day options for families (Toulouse Tourisme).

Carcassonne and the motorways

Carcassonne is about an hour from Toulouse on the A61 (Carcassonne Tourist Office), which makes the walled city an easy day trip. Tolls on the network that runs the A61 rose by an average of 0.62% from 1 February 2026 (Journal de l’Économie).

The motorway limit is 130 km/h, falling to 110 km/h in rain. Two-way roads without a central divider are limited to 80 km/h, and towns to 50 km/h (Sécurité routière).

French rules for UK families

Children up to the age of 10 must travel in an approved child seat suited to their size. The drink-drive limit is 0.5 g per litre, and 0.2 g for drivers on a probationary licence (ONISR).

A UK photocard licence is valid in France (GOV.UK). France is in the Schengen area, so the EU Entry/Exit System applies when you land (GOV.UK).

Seven people and the bags

A large suitcase holds 80 to 110 litres (Markenkoffer). With all seven seats up, the roomiest common 7 seaters manage about 340 to 350 litres of boot (Auto Express).

Bar chart of 7 seater boot space with all seats in use: Peugeot 5008 348 litres, Skoda Kodiaq 340, Kia Sorento 179, previous Peugeot 5008 167, Volkswagen Touran 137, all short of the 560 to 770 litres seven large suitcases need
Boot figures: Auto Express, Carbuyer. Suitcase volumes: Markenkoffer.

For a big case each, or ski bags for the Pyrenees, look for the ACRISS FV class, meaning seven or more seats plus more space, or book an 8 or 9 seater.

Collecting the car at Toulouse Airport

The airport’s pages for its main hire firms put their desks and cars in the P2 car park (Toulouse-Blagnac Airport). Check your voucher for your own firm before you follow the signs.

A new airport rail link from Blagnac is due to open at the end of 2026, with a train every 5 minutes (Toulouse Métropole). Expect some works around the terminal until then.

Making a Toulouse 7 Seater cost less

  • Check the Crit’Air sticker. A missing sticker in the low emission zone can mean a fine of about £58 (€68).
  • Book the combined ticket. Airbus and Aéroscopia together cost less than two separate visits.
  • Compare the full price. The excess, deposit, fuel policy and second driver fees all change the total.
  • Book early for summer. Fewer budget flights since 2025 mean busy weeks, so lock in a cancellable rate.
